Investment Visa Options

The E-2 Treaty Investor visa is a smart solution for investors looking for a visa with no minimum investment amount and no limit on renewals. Investors may choose to create their own business enterprise, purchase a franchise or invest in a joint venture, as long as the investor owns at least 50% of the E-2 company. To qualify for the E-2 visa, the investor must be a citizen of one of the countries that has a Treaty of Trade and Commerce with the United States (see list).
With the E-2 visa, the investor and family members can reside in the US as long as the E-2 business is operational and generating a profit. While the E-2 visa does not lead directly permanent residency, there are many options for E-2 investors who choose to convert their E-2 to permanent resident status. An E-2 investor may adjust status to permanent residency through a variety of family-based options or through employer sponsorship.

Country list:

The EB-5 visa, also known as citizenship by investment, provides a direct pathway to US permanent residence and US citizenship. Five years after receiving permanent residence through the EB-5 program, investors may apply for U.S. citizenship. In addition to immigration benefits, investors who choose the EB-5 visa have the opportunity to earn return on their investment (ROI), which typically ranges from 3-5%, depending on the project.
The EB-5 visa requires a minimum investment of $500,000.00 through a regional center or by direct investment if the investment project is located in a targeted employment area (TEA). If the project is not located in a TEA, then the minimum investment amount is $1 million. Because the EB-5 visa category was created to stimulate the US economy, the investment must create 10 full-time US jobs within two years.

The L1 Visa is a sensible immigration option for business owners who want to open a new branch of their company in the United States or for employers looking to secure visas for employees who are essential to business operations in the U.S. The L-1 Visa is a non-immigrant visa is designed for foreign-owned companies with branch locations or subsidiaries in the U.S to petition for Managers & Executives (L1-A) or for professionals with specialized knowledge (L-1B) to operate the U.S business. The spouse and children under age 21 of L-1 visa holders may accompany them to reside in the U.S. with an L-2 visa for family members.
The L-1 visa provides a pathway to permanent residency for immigrant employees in this category. The L-1 company itself or unrelated third-party companies may petition for the L-1 employee through the PERM labor certification process, which will secure a green card for the beneficiary upon approval.
